NEW BEGINNINGS – THE POWER OF RESILIENCE AND DETERMINATION

January is an interesting month – It is usually marked with new year’s resolutions and plans for the freshly started year to unveil its potentials and all the possible opportunities that it brings along to us and our loved ones. Beginnings are amazing as they might be accompanied by excitement, the unknown, the potential, new perspectives, determination, opportunity, hope, energy…It is usually the time of the year where new and fresh ideas are buzzing around our heads.

Beside the familiar feeling of excitement for something “new” one can also raise questions like…where do I start, what is my biggest priority, is my personal network enough to make my ideas happen and bring to life, will I have the courage to changes I have envisaged in the last year?   

All beginnings are hard, but the potential of something new, our creative lives are connected to this fact. The German poet J. W. Goethe once wrote: “I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather…”

While contemplating about this thought and being midst of the project’s practical experience with therapy writing and working with our participants, we have been rewarded with the 1^st poem, that was created in previous weeks and that opened out the idea of “new beginnings and determination” as a path towards personal resilience and empowerment.

We invite you to reflection and hope for each one you to find you own “fantastic song” for this year:   

…We were diligent children,

today we feel responsible,

for this third world of ours,

which is like a chess game tense.

If you are a diligent soul yourself,

and a little bit resourceful,

you can become,

what we dreamed of as children.

Life is not just an illusion,

It can be a fantastic song,

if we just broaden our horizons

and delve into the details…
