As all of you know, the International Women’s day takes place on 8th March every year and primarily celebrates the movement for women’s rights. The celebration has been very special for us this year, as we had the chance to celebrate it with our HEROINES’ groups. Women’s fight is made of little things and this training course is one of them. During the sessions, we talk about our dreams, our plans, we talk about our past life and the things we learnt, about the difficulties of being a woman with mental health challenges, and the most important thing is that we support each other in our life (recovery in most cases) journey. Sorority has a special significance during these meetings, every week we celebrate being a woman!
But this is not the only thing we have to celebrate in March: 21 March, is the World Poetry day. As the UN declares “Poetry reaffirms our common humanity by revealing to us that individuals, everywhere in the world, share the same questions and feelings. Poetry is the mainstay of oral tradition and, over centuries, can communicate the innermost values of diverse cultures. In celebrating World Poetry Day, March 21, UNESCO recognizes the unique ability of poetry to capture the creative spirit of the human mind”.
One of the main objectives of the Day is to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression and to offer endangered languages the opportunity to be heard within their communities.
HEROINES project represents diversity itself: our fellow “heroines” are of different age, nationality, languages, race, sexual orientation, economic situation, etc. But all of them are working together just because of the fact of being a WOMAN.
